Hudson

The North name is a heavy burden. Two things I learned young—the best way to keep my head on is to keep my head down, and… never fall in love.
But I’m a sucker for a damsel in distress.

Lillian came into my life swinging. Mistaking me for my abusive twin brother, she greets me with a swift kick to the balls and a busted lip. Then she really shakes up my world.

She needs her job, but she needs a break just as much. And nothing silences my demons as efficiently as playing the hero.

To protect her from my jerk twin—her boss—I take her on a business trip and quickly learn that she’s different. Blunt. Honest. Intriguingly strange. I’m transfixed, so when she unknowingly sinks a multimillion-dollar deal, I don’t speak up. Something my family won’t forgive.

Now, I have a choice to make. I can go against my own blood and burn the North legacy to the ground, or play it safe, commit to my self-imposed rules and predestined future. Choosing her would ruin my life as I know it, but I’m starting to wonder if a life without her is worth living.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: taboo, forced proximity
Angst: 😱😱😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥

".. 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝒆𝒙𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒆𝒍𝒔𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒏'𝒕 𝒕𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔 𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏 𝒖𝒓𝒈𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒊𝒈."

Every single one of these North brothers have left me speechless and Hudson did not disappoint. True North is the 3rd book in JB Salsbury's North Brother series. It is told in first person, from dual perspective. It can be read as a standalone, but best enjoyed when read in series order. Lillian Gillingham is a hot freakin' mess with troubles that have troubles. Super quirky and disorganized, she's everything her boss, Hayes hates. She knows this because he's told her over. And over. And over again. Despite being the victim of a painful misunderstanding, Hayes twin brother Hudson steps up and offers to have Lillian go on a business trip to get her away from Hayes for a while. He never plans on falling for the quirky ball of chaos - especially since she's his employee and the last thing he want to do is to be perceived to emulate his womanizing father.

"𝑰 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑳𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑽𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑮𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒉𝒂𝒎. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏'𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘. 𝑰 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔. 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈-𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒎, 𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒅-𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒑𝒍𝒆-𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒎𝒂𝒔-𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑰 𝒂𝒎 𝒔𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈-𝒂-𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈-𝒂-𝒑𝒆𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖.... 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈-𝒎𝒚-𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕-𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒚𝒐𝒖."

True North is such a fabulously sweet and emotional ride! Anyone who's a fan of the series wanted to see Lillian get hers and while I was disappointed it wasn't Hayes at first, Hudson is obviously the man for her! True North is well written, moves quickly, and has the absolutely best cast of characters. Lillian was a riot. Her rolling internal dialogue, obsessive tendencies, and clumsiness had me laughing myself silly. Her struggle to find acceptance within her family was heart wrenching and probably the only thing I didn't love about the book was that I felt like she really never got real closure with them for how they treated her. Hudson is perfection. Super protective, a bit of a savior complex, and an earnestness that made both sexy and endearing. I loved how fascinated he was by her and that there was actual relationship development in an organic way - not just from the sexual chemistry between them. Absolutely recommend this book and this series! Book is wonderfully complete with a jaw dropping intro to Hayes book next. Can 👏🏼 not 👏🏼 wait👏🏼!!

I really tried with this one, but after reading a few chapters in I was fed up and exhausted with all crap written and DNF’d. Here’s why:

When Hero’s Twin Brother was busy insulting heroine, Hero didn’t step up and defend her. First scene in the bar where she accidently runs into the asshole brother and spills her wine on his shirt and he calls her names which Hero & his other brothers witness, it was one of the other brothers who comes to her rescue. Why wasn’t it the Hero? (He confirmed he witnessed the episode)

Then in the asshole brother’s office where Hero listened to him insult & berate the heroine, why didn’t he punch his twin in the face to shut him up? For that matter, why did he & his other brothers allow his twin to speak to people the way he did and not remove him from the company or get him psychiatric help? His anger kept manifesting and he was disparaging employees and they just set there and did nothing???? Uhm...No.

A “Hero” does not one make when he is not able to protect & defend a woman, much less the heroine.

Then we have the Heroine. Why do Authors constantly write stupid heroines? This one was written as incompetent & not able to defend herself at all. I honestly didn’t blame the asshole brother for yelling at her and saying those things to her when she acted like an airhead! She is supposed to be an assistant or something but she forgets her iPad that she needs to do her job on the plane, doesn't check messages that Hero (temp Boss leaves her), doesn't pack underwear for the business trip she needed to go to, left her phone in her room & confirmed to her Boss/Hero that she "forgets" things, Makes stupid/embarrassing remarks to business associates that make her look & sound like an idiot and so on!

And speaking of the asshole twin brother she initially worked for, she just stood there and took all the shite he gave her like the pansy she was! And let’s not forget the brother she lived with who brought women after women each night to f**k in her own personal space and did nothing about it other than to half-heartedly tell him to not f**k women in her bed! LOL.

This is NOT my idea of “Romance”! I hate stupid/weak characters. I don't find them entertaining at all. They just raise my blood pressure and while it may have gotten better later on with both characters getting a complete personality change, I just didn’t care at that point to find out.

Announcement: I have never in the history of my reading had every book in a series become a #TopRead for the year it publishes, but here we are … #2022TopReads Well done!!

Each of the North men’s stories have been unique to their personalities and vastly different from one another and yet I have been just as captivated and enthralled with each as I was with the last. JB has created dynamic storylines for all three so far but I must say, based on the ending of this book, Hayes might just be the one brother I’m going to hate to love lol We shall see!

I don’t know who I loved more, Hudson or Lillian # TrueStory They were perfectly matched and exactly what each needed to move thru life in a positive light. Lillian being the quiet, kinda quirky girl and Hudson being the dare I say, sweet and nice guy, meshed together like two puzzle pieces. Their story was a bit on the light side but their connection was not. That was explosive, both in the physical sense and the mental. Hudson understood Lillian from the start and it endeared him to my heart that much faster! Their story is packed with emotion but not a whole lot of angst. It doesn’t deeply gut you but it’s so full of heart that it might as well have! If you haven’t read Wild North or Rebel North before you picked this book up, you are definitely going to want to after! #trust

Lord have mercy, these North brothers are a gift that keeps on giving. Each one has brought a special, unique flavor to their story and each one leaves me on the edge of my seat, a little desperate for more.

Hudson North was the sweet one. And boy howdy, was he ever. I loved how good his heart was, and how completely he turned it over to Lillian. I loved how steady and sure he was, how protective and over-the-top he was when her safety or reputation was threatened. I really loved how the two fit together.

I struggled a little with Lillian. I understood her issues, but still struggled with how they played out sometimes. It took me a long time to appreciate her as a character and to really connect with the romance as it felt a little insta and I didn't always understand it based on the characteristics of Lillian that I saw. She's not a bad character. I just really struggled to connect with her sometimes and it did make me feel a little outside of the romance for a while.

The heat level is cranked up and their physical chemistry was basically a fiery inferno. And ultimately, their emotional chemistry won me over as well. I particularly liked how a few pivotal scenes played out and the way Lillian wound up fitting in with the North collective.

JB Salsbury left off with a bit of a bomb drop at the end of this story and I am now dying - d-y-i-n-g for the next one! ~ Shelly, 4 stars

Another unputdownable story from the  North Brothers!

Hudson, our sweet guy who can't help but be the knight of our damsel in distress... although Lillian can be fiery as well.

Principle vs  undeniable feelings
Family vs love

No wonder I am hooked. 😍

It's no doubt that I hate Hayes... but would you believe I can't wait for his story??  😌 Now, I'm counting the days.  😩

Getting kneed in the balls is perhaps not the meet cute this good guy hero was hoping for, but it was an effective one! When a case of mistaken identity leads our heroine to take her frustration out on her evil boss's identical twin, neither one could've predicted where they'd end up later on. I loved that the story jumps right in and breaks down the walls between these two characters, and throwing them together on a business trip with tons of forced proximity and an easygoing feel certainly helped foster a relationship. Each book in the series has followed a different North brother, and this hero is the nice one - the genuinely good guy who has learned to put himself last and practice ironclad self-control. Paired with a secretly feisty, sexy heroine who has ADHD and impulse control issues, it was only a matter of time before he found himself letting go.

The story follows Lillian, a woman who has always been told that she's too much. Her personality makes it difficult to keep a well-paying job, but she's finally managed to hold onto one... at least until she reaches her breaking point. Lillian's boss is an emotionally abusive jerk, so her knee-jerk reaction (literally, lol) was warranted. At least, it would've been if she'd aimed it at the correct brother. Lillian and Hudson's relationship starts off on the wrong foot, but going on a business trip to a luxury resort together soon brings them closer. But Hudson is determined not to sink to the same level as some of his other family members - and getting involved with an employee is a surefire way to do so.

This is my favorite of the series (so far) - each book has been so different, taking traditional tropes and spinning them in new directions. Until this one, I wasn't QUITE able to give any of them a full 5-star rating, though elements of each certainly earned it. That's why I'm rounding up this time; True North is refreshing and bingeable, with a unique storyline and genuinely likable characters. I loved the easiness of Lillian and Hudson's relationship, and having such a nice guy as the hero was great. There's nothing that I didn't like, though it was perhaps a little TOO easy at times. Salsbury does throw in a few curveballs though, and I am especially excited for the next installment of the series - which I wouldn't have predicted going into this. It should be noted that there's some potentially triggering content that I didn't see coming; beyond the fact that Hudson's brother is verbally abusive, there are also references to things like sexual assault, gaslighting, etc. All in all, I got everything I wanted from this (mostly) light and sexy romance, so that's a definite win. I received an early copy, and am voluntarily leaving a review of this office romance.

My FAVORITE NORTH BOOK!! I loved the characters, I loved the story line, I loved that there was a mean brother that this sweetie brother stood up to when he spoke badly about the heroine. I LOVED when the scenery totally changed (won't spoil it) And that first kiss.... WHOA and SIGH. What can I say? JB Salsbury delivered again and in a big way and I'll be diving right back in to re read! It was THAT good!!

❝love changes a person. Down to the tiniest, insignificant details. ❞

This book.
This book.
It's everything I always WANTED.
Quirky heroines always speak to me. Make sense and always put me at ease
Because well " pot, meet kettle". .
And in this book I have a female crush 🥰.

❝ “You are more magnificent than every sunrise and sunset combined.”❞ ( and that she was 🥰)

Lillian was so off-balance , literally and figuratively. She felt lacking, and always felt like a burden , and never at ease . .

❝ “A book with pages missing? Now that would be useless,” ... Funny how I feel those words in my bones. My whole life, I’ve felt like a story with a missing plot, a hero’s journey without a hero, a mystery without a secret. Dysfunctional because I’m missing some integral thing that everyone else is born with ❞

She felt so misunderstood, like even herself couldn't master the will to understand herself.

And then Hudson entered the chatt.
And he was A force to be reckoned.
He was steady and knew what he wanted and went for it. She was worthy of all the work he put in order to convince her of an "us".

❝.“Don’t write us off. I wasn’t exaggerating when I said I’ve never felt this way about a woman before.” ......“Whatever your reservations might be, give me a chance to prove you wrong.” ❞

The book was so cute and sweet and all in between. Their feelings were the contagious kind and felt basket in it.

❝ I am deeply, madly, drowning in all-consuming love with you?”❞

❝ The idea of loving Lillian seems as natural as living. Something I didn’t choose but just happens every day when I wake up, still breathing.❞

But what I loved the most in this book is Lillian's evolution, her metamorphosis was so bright it shook my entire been ( dramatic much 👀👀)
.. the realization that it wasn't her, it was the people around her not putting enough effort to understand her. Her nature wasn't her fault. It was her brand.

❝ No one has ever made me feel so raw. So exposed. Or so free. With him, I don’t feel like I need to be ashamed of my quirky personality or hide my flaws. Because he doesn’t look at me and see my shortcomings. He sees uncommon and exceptional. Not broken, but brilliant.
And he loves me.❞

I highly recommend it
4quirky , awkward , imperfectly perfect stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ps: that ending 🤯 FU©k how am I supposed to wait for Hayes 's book 😩😩😩😩.
Already consider as most anticipated book.

I have really enjoyed this series. These North men have a tough exterior but sweethearts when they meet the one.

We met Lillian in the other books and Hudson (and I) disliked how she was treated by Hayes. She is a bit quirky but her quirkiness is what makes her special. I loved watching her mind work ! She had an interesting perspective on things.

Hudson has always been the level headed North Brother. Unfortunately for him he shares the same face with his twin Hayes who isn’t known for his kindness.

Lillian and Hudson are thrown together during a work trip. They weren’t immediately friends but had a mutual respect for the other. They also had a slow burning chemistry despite her initially mistaking him for his brother.

There is a little drama but its not over the top just enough to keep the storyline moving. I loved the other brothers and their significant others played a part in this story.

I’m looking forward to see who Hayes is going to fall for!

This is the third book in The North Brothers Series and I'm obsessed! I could not put True North down!

Wow! This was not the storyline I was expecting. It was was one of the most amazing and heartfelt books that I have read.

This is a slow burn and it held me hostage.

Lillian works for Hayden, the cruel twin brother. In the twist of the events Hayden lends Lillian's work sevices to his nice twin, Holden. And this is how their story begins. They develop a friendship, and it is obvious they have a physical attraction, but neither one of them dares to cross the line.

Holden is swoon worthy, respectable and protective. Lillian's got this charming, free spirited personality, she's loving and very smart. They both try to deny their attraction to each other, but the chemistry between the two of them is boundless.

This book hooked me from the very first page all the way to the last, and I didn't want it to end. My only satisfaction right now after finishing this deliciousness is that there's one more brother left; the cruel one. It's hinted on the last pages. And boy, what a hint it is! Poor Hayden. Can't wait!

Seriously, you need to go get this book.

I love the North Brothers series and True North is a great addition to it. Hudson is the nice brother who stays away from love and relationships. Lillian is a bit awkward but also very feisty but has been told by her family that she is too much and needs to act normal. I thought Lillian was a very refreshing and fun character. I really enjoyed how their friendship developed into a relationship. There was no unnecessary drama and I loved getting to know these characters better. It was good to see what the other North brothers and their significant others were up to.

True North is a light and fun contemporary romance. I really love JB's writing and I always stay hooked on her story until the end. I was really looking forward to Hayes book, but I am kind of glad the author left his book for last. The ending had me shocked and now I can't wait to get my hands on the last book in this series. If you enjoy contemporary romances that are a bit on the lighter side then I highly recommend this series. JB Salsbury always delivers with her storytelling and unique characters.

I was almost gonna skip this one and move on to Hayes' book. Hudson was a character that just didn't pique my interest much. As the nice "normal" guy, he didn't come across compelling enough, especially compared to his very unique brothers.

But I really enjoyed this story! There's no real drama, angst, turmoil or twists like his brothers' stories and that is what I liked about it. In its simplicity the love story development really shone through. No tricks or gimmicks to this one.

I absolutely love how each brother's story is so different from each other. JB has a way with words and storytelling.

Now on to the a-hole's book...the last brother standing - Hayes!

What I love the most about the North Brothers is how many layers each of them have and how they love so hard. Hudson might be my favorite North brother. He had me locked in and swooning from the beginning.

“You are more magnificent than every sunrise and sunset combined.”

“You’re brilliant, creative, fun as hell, and stunning beyond any beauty described in the human language.”

“Lillian is the first person I’ve known who seems to take all the oxygen with her when she goes.”

Idk when he talks about her and to her like THAT, how can you not love him?

And Lillian! Omg I love her so much. She is so quirky, blunt, honest & so funny. I loved her character so much. Her family on the other hand…I wanted to drop kick them. FOREAL. It’s so beautiful to see how many people love and appreciate the way she thinks when her family has made her feel terrible about it her whole life.

I loved the cameos we got from the other brothers especially Alexander and Kingston🥰 uhhhhh we will see how i feel about Hayes when we get his book lol

Lillian and Hudson are quintessential opposites.
She’s struggling emotionally, financially and career wise.
He is a successful billionaire working at his family’s company who are a powerful New York “who’s who” of the business and social set. He stays away from strong emotions for the most part.
Lillian is insecure about the things that make her different from the “average” person. Her mind works in unique way’s and she she says whatever she thinks with no filter.
Hudson is steady, cool and confident.
Hudson finds Lillian intriguing and finds her “quirks” attractive.
Their chemistry is off the charts and the way their interactions develop is so entertaining and heartwarming.
Both are sympathetic characters that have emotional scars and emotional depth.
Together they have fun and I really adored their connection.
It’s a very enjoyable and entertaining story with unique characters that I fell in love with.
Lillian is one of a kind. I love her creativity and her boldness despite her insecurities.
Hudson has a heart of gold and is so caring. He’s amazing! The compassion shown from a billionaire is so incredibly beautiful and tugged at my feeling’s hard.
I love the way their journey together plays out.
The interactions with his family are fantastic. Both good and bad.
It’s fun, steamy and emotionally satisfying.
I loved catching up a bit with the other brothers from previous books and their significant others.
I love this series and I’m really excited for the next book, Hayes’ story is the next and his story I’m certain will be very interesting.
It’s low angst, minor drama fun romance. I completely enjoyed it.

I really liked how this relationship progressed. Two experienced adults meet, get to know each other, fall in love, and enter into a relationship. There were some bumps in the road but they were handled well.

Aaron was a complete d o u c h e b a g. Even worse than Hayes. I'm so interested to see how Hayes is going to be redeemed in the next book.

2 stars and almost DNF
By the book 3 I got it - the theme of this series is mental issues and deficiencies. Alex has some degree of Asperger's, Kingston has dyslexia and learning disabilities and now we have this: my peronal pet-peeve - ADHD, OCD and lack of impulse control. Deep inside I get it, it's a disease, but still I simply cannot stand this kind of characters. I would prefer grunting Alex any day. Silence is gold, you know :)
And here we have a sunshine heroine with verbal diarrhea, no filter and lack of self control. And the hero who is entranced by her to such degree that he is willing to blow multi-million deal and suffer the wrath of his family just to listen her ideas. Which are dumb, by the way. Like my personal favourite: instead of building a one-of-kind state-of-the-art luxary resort she proposed to build a place where people could live in tepees, participate in busket weaving contests and blanket making. So basically a themed summer camp. Instead of a resort. And everybody is so blown away with the way her mind works! Come on, my 7yo is more creative than that!
So I could not find it in me to care about them. I gave it a fair shot and gave up at approx. 60%. I just couldn't imagine what this remaining 40% could be about? So I skipped to the last 20 pages. I was right, I didn't miss anything.

Lillian did not read clueless but sweet character coming into her own she is basically a child in an adult body. So her being childlike made Hudson seem condescending and...yikes...fatherly. Not sexy at all.

It got to a point where I started to relate to Hayes. I wouldn't have the patience to deal with Lillian either.

This is the third book in the North Brothers series, a sweet and fun chemistry-filled romance with lots of steam and lots of heart. It’s such a gorgeous read and I loved it!

Hudson is the calm, sweet and kind North brother. He is a good guy with a big heart who loves to help others, and though he keeps his head down while navigating the unusual dynamics at his family’s firm, he enjoys his job and he is living his best life.

Lillian is new to New York and is struggling to get on her feet. She has behavioural / neurodevelopmental issues that make things like focussing and socialising a bit tricky for her, but she’s working hard to make a go of things at North Industries - though she has the misfortune of working for Hudson’s evil twin, Hayes. The man is a mean and cruel a-hole, so when Hudson swoops in to save her and whisks her away on a business trip as his assistant/associate, she’s all too happy to go along with it.

It’s sparks from the very beginning with these two. Hudson has this cheeky playfulness to him that puts Lillian at ease, and he finds her quirks and outspokenness endearing and entertaining. From fast friendship to so much more, the sexual tension is intense, and I loved every moment of getting-to-know-you-anticipation.

“First, I would consider myself lucky to kiss you.”
Excitement flares in her eyes.
“But second, I wouldn’t want to stop there. I’d want my mouth on more than your lips. And if I had the honor of having you in my bed, I’d want the world to know about it.”

The romance develops quickly, with both of them falling fast and not afraid to let it show. They do have some understandable concerns, but their mad attraction is undeniable, and I loved watching them come together. It’s a gorgeous romance full of sweet and playful moments and so much hotness, and I just love these two as a couple.

The pull between us, the electricity that stirs in the air when we’re close, am I the only one who feels that? More than lust, more than attraction, what we have is something more.

There is a bit of drama, but it’s short-lived and dealt with functionally. Turns out our sweet Hudson has a bit of an alpha streak, and his fierce protectiveness and open-heart with his girl is beautiful to see.

“I am deeply, madly, drowning in all-consuming love with you.”

I loved Hudson! He’s an absolute sweetheart, and in romanceland where there are so manwhores, bad boys and commitment-phobes, it’s so beautiful to see a good guy who wears his heart on his sleeve for his girl. I also loved catching up with Hudson’s brothers Alexander and Kingston. I loved seeing them happy with their girls, I loved the close relationship between the boys, and I loved how beautifully and unreservedly Lillian was accepted into the fold.

“Maybe he is trying to save you. But he’s also trying desperately to love you. And how do I know? Because it’s what we do. We protect and help and save the women we love. That is something we cannot control.”

There’s one North brother remaining, and after all of that we’ve seen of Hayes so far, and the hint of what’s coming in his book, I am so freaking excited for that one.

I loved this book, and I’m loving this series. The boys (and their girls) are so unique, which gives each book a different feel, but all with so much heart, and beautiful love stories. This is such a great read.

4.5 stars.

4.25stars-- TRUE NORTH is the third instalment in JB Salsbury’s contemporary, adult THE NORTH BROTHERS erotic, romance series focusing on the North brothers: Alexander, Kingston and twins Hudson and Hayes. This is thirty-two year old, billionaire businessman Hudson North, and PA Lillian Gillingham’s story line. TRUE NORTH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Hudson and Lillian) TRUE NORTH follows the forbidden relationship between thirty-two year old, billionaire businessman Hudson North, and PA Lillian Gillingham. Lillian Gillingham is Hayes North’s personal assistant but his treatment of Lillian borders on abusive and feral. With Hudson’s assistant on maternity leave, our hero hires Lillian as his assistant for a series of weekend meetings, meetings in which Lillian will offer her opinion in the face of shock and and potential loss. Truthfully blunt, and often without thinking, Lillian is always on the verge of a potential breakdown until the man in charge sends our heroine packing but not before Hudson finds himself falling for the woman that calls to his heart. As Lillian and Hudson’s relationship goes from professional to personal, Hudson discovers a betrayal at the top, a betrayal against the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Hudson and Lillian, and the potential fall-out as Lillian struggles with issues of trust, believing she is Hudson’s latest project, not the woman he loves.

Lillian Gillingham is a bit of a mess. With no official diagnosis, Lillian often finds herself stretched to the limits, honest to the point of blunt and rude, and a little scattered in her every day life. Living with her brother in New York, Lillian battles between head and heart believing she is not worthy of another’s love. Hudson North doesn’t do long term relationships, in fact, it has been several years since anyone has seen our hero with someone else. Lillian is, and was, an employee of the North family, and in this, their relationship is scrutinized by the man at the top. Refusing to walk away, Hudson threatens to bring down the top when secrets are revealed, betraying the woman he loves.

The relationship between Hudson and Lillian is one of immediate attraction but Hayes presents Lillian as a lost cause; a mess, an incompetent, and a nobody who is nothing but a waste of oxygen. Refusing to accept his brother’s description of our story line heroine, Hudson, who has a bit of a savior complex, offers Lillian everything and more, an offer that threatens his position within North Industries. The $ex scenes are erotic, passionate and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Lillian’s brother Aaron and his friend Dirk, and via the phone Lillian’s mother. We are reintroduced to Hudson’s siblings: twin brother Hayes, Alexander and Jordan, Kingston and Gabriella, as well as their father August; Hudson’s driver Carina, and escort Ellie.

TRUE NORTH is a story of dysfunctional family relationships, friendships and love; power and control; acceptance and understanding. The premise is intriguing, captivating and emotional; the romance is seductive and impassioned; the characters are charismatic and determined. TRUE NORTH ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

It's been a minute since I got to pick up a J.B. Salsbury novel and reading True North reminded me of just how very much I love her writing! This opposites-attract romance is sweet and steamy sizzling, LOL funny and full of all the FEELS! I loved EVERYTHING about it.

JB Salsbury never lets a reader down, and while this book wasn't exactly what I was expecting when I signed up for my blog to read and review it, it was absolutely a beautiful love story that consumed me from beginning to end.

True North was simply amazing. The story is an opposites-attract, billionaire, slow burn, workplace romance. Lillian (Lily) is employed at the North's family business only she works for the hero's twin brother, Hayden. Their animosity towards one another is staggering and I was a little on edge with his treatment of her initially. But I always have faith in the process when it comes to anything penned by Salsbury and as I've already mentioned, this book was simply amazing. Written as part of a family saga series, it can still be read as a standalone, and if you are second guessing what you've gotten yourself into, have no fear—JB Salsbury delivers in a big way!

Lily isn't your standard heroine. She comes across as lazy, flighty to outsiders, and free-spirited regardless of surviving being hurt in one manner or another repeatedly. Yet she loves deeply and is unfailingly loyal. The chemistry between her and Holden from the get-go is definitely not something you can dismiss. And what surprised me more than this unlikely pairing was how soft and kind Holden was as he fell hook, line, and sinker for the beautiful woman. He's so different from the man I was expecting him to be! (You'll get it if you start reading, as he's the polar opposite of his own twin but it's more than that as well!) As Lily and Holden's relationship flourishes, starting as intrigued coworkers—he's not technically her boss—to friends and beyond when their smoking hot chemistry ignited, I laughed to the point of tears, then I teared up—Lily's just not had it easy and her relationships other than Holden definitely left something to be desired! (Fact - I'm a pacifist and still I wanted to take a swing at Hayden repeatedly!!😤🤬) Yet regardless of so much opposition, the pair was onto something far more than they ever expected and that journey provided me with endless laughter. (Just wait for the first scene between the pair and Lily's not-so-accidental assault and childlike glee—not only will you be laughing your booty off, but you'd also likely want to high-five her just like I did.) And let's not forget the need for a cold shower as the tensions mounted and the volcano finally and gloriously erupted!😏😉

I loved the dual POV, how clever Lily's ideas were—she's not given nearly the credit she deserves—the feel-good vibe of the story, and overall, just how deeply the book made me feel seemingly effortlessly. That's the magic of a book by JB Salsbury and that's exactly why I also have read her words even when I'm not sure where they might take me. Be prepared for ALL the emotions I mentioned and more. And don't wait to dive into JB Salsbury's latest masterpiece, you won't be sorry!

Thank you JB Salsbury and Social Butterfly PR for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

I requested to get an ARC of this book because a friend of mine recommended the series and told me I should try it out. Well, I did and now I'm hooked on the North Brothers. Each brother gets more complicated and they're all so, so different. I've loved each book, each couple, each story as much as the last. JB Salsbury managed to make me love yet another brother in this series.

Hudson North, or the nice twin, is mistaken for his asshole of a brother and pays the price in the form of a knee to the nuts and a split lip. A normal man would be pissed, but not Hudson, he's intrigued and goes into "Savior Mode." Lillian Gillingham has been torn down, walked all over and is treated like dirt by Hayes North, so when she mistakenly assaults her boss's brother, she's in the crazy position where she needs to help Hudson out in order to keep her job.

In the other North books, the brothers have had some type of secret or characterstic that makes them different from the others. In this book, Lillian is our oddball and Hudson is the counterpart that helps her realize her worth. She's quirky, blurts our whatever is on her mind, and captures Hudson's attention with her positive outlook on small things. I cracked up several times throughout the book with some of her comments and have highlights all over the place!

"Become like a testie-taster. A scrotum sampler of sorts. A real guru of gonads-"

Like his brothers, Hudson loves so completely and is obsessed with Lillian. He supports her, worships everything she does, and goes to bat for her. Get ready to swoon over Hudson, ladies and gentlemen!

"She's beautiful, kind, and has a smile that lights up her face. She's funny, smart, and quirky in a way that adds a certain cuteness to her beauty."

The spice in this book was perfect, especially since the chemistry between the two main characters was off the charts. There wasn't as much angst in this book as there was in the first two books, but there is a cliffhanger that has me incredibly excited for the next book. I'm still not a fan of Hayes North, so we'll have to see how JB redeems him in the future. All of The North Brothers books are worth the purchase and will keep you turning the pages. Start the series today and be ready for Hudson on the 8th!

In ‘True North’ we read the story of Hudson North, also known as the ‘kind’ twin. Hudson has learned to live his life as a North by keeping his head down and not caring much about what is going on in his family. He promised himself he would never fall in love, and take care of woman in need as much as he could without really exposing what he was doing. But when Hudson meets Lillian, who accidentally thinks he is his angry twin.. he finds himself enchanted by her right from the start.

Lillian has never fitted in anywhere. She was always the one in her family who didn’t ‘work’ right. And she has never really been able to keep a job or keep friends. And when she meets Hudson, she honestly expects him to see the worst in her as well. But from the moment they meet, Hudson is trying to take care of her and soon he is the one person who makes her feel like she is good the way she is.

‘True North’ pulled me in right from the start. This book is written through both Hudson and Lillian’s point of views, and I loved getting to know them. They are from two very different worlds and I love how easily they connected with each other. The chemistry between Hudson and Lillian was amazing, and I devoured these pages.

What I loved most about ‘True North’, is how these characters are not perfect. They are so relatable because they have flaws, just like we all have. And I just love it. This is the same in all the books in the series so far, and I just can’t love them more. And boy.. I can’t wait for book four in this series about Hudson’s twin brother.

This is the 3rd book in the North Brothers Series and could be read as a standalone but much better with the back history of the other characters.

Hudson North has been going with the flow and keeping himself in check for so long it's hard to remember a time where he was just himself and let loose. Determined not to be anything like his father he has kept himself far from relationships. Letting work and the family business keep him too busy for more. He decides to step up and make up for his brothers behavour with one of his employees, he certainly gets more than he barginned for.

Lillian is doing what she can to survive in this damn big city. Living in her studio apartment with her older but less mature big brother. Determined to prove everyone in her family wrong and find her way in life, not needing any of them to help her. She is a breathe of fresh air, sure a little quirky and clutzy but she is so much more than you see on the outside. When life kicks her down, she just keeps trying, determined not to take handouts.

I love that this relationship starts on a friendship level and before either are aware they have fallen deep and hard. Will Hudson be willing to go against the North vision and fight for something for him for once? Can this white night help his lady see that she is strong confident and worth every bit of his troubles?

A wonderful addition to the series and I can't wait for more.

I am absolutely loving this series. With each book I fall in love with a different brother, thinking there is no way I’ll be as crazy for the next one. And then I read the. next. one. In each book, so far, there is a character that one might say isn’t exactly “normal”. In this case it’s Lillian.

Lillian sees the world through a different lens. And it often gets her in trouble. After a series of unfortunate events Lillian gets transferred to Hudson’s (the nice twin) department. Hudson has a thing for helping “down on their luck” women. He also has a hard and fast rule to never get involved with women that work for his family’s company.

Anyway, without giving too much away, Hudson starts to fall for Lillian (although he pretty much denies it to himself at first). One thing leads to another and he soon has a tough decision to make. What will he do?

I loved Lillian’s quirkiness! I hated that her whole family treated her badly. I especially loved that Hudson started recognizing her unique way of seeing things early on. I don’t see how this author can make anyone love Hayes (the mean/evil twin) but I look forward to finding out.

I need to stop dropping in into the middle of the chaos!
This is my first meeting with a North Brother
Though it worked out just fine
The only negative is now I want to know more about the brothers who have already found their "balance"

There were a few times I wanted to gently remove (I am trying to be an adult here) from Lillian's life - her family, the North's patriarch (eye roll there), and a few other folks who thought it was okay to dismiss her because she was a bit forgetful, a dreamer, a bit hard to follow at times.
You don't have to get her to love her - Lillian has so much to share if you only take a moment to truly see her -
To listen to her
I was so happy when Hudson put them in their places.
*sigh* #couplegoals

This has all those "feely" moments
I laughed - I envisioned (Lillian has some great ideas) - I got really angry - My eyes leaked a few tears - and I fell in love
And the chemistry between them was so natural and undeniable
From that first slip to the last smile I was enchanted
I can not wait to see what happens with Hades - sorry Hayes lmao
He is about to meet karma
